Now recruiting for 2025/26 season
The Ballarat Fire Brigade CC (BFBCC) expects all players, spectators, and supporters to abide by the following code of conduct:
Most people play cricket for enjoyment. Players should strive to enjoy the game and help others to do the same. They should applaud good performances from both teams and congratulate all players regardless of the outcome.
All decisions of officials should be accepted as being fair and called to the best of their ability. Umpires are there to enforce the rules of play, but they may not always be right. Players should accept all decisions graciously and refrain from abusing umpires. Consistently disputing decisions or failing to accept bad decisions is considered unsportsmanlike.
Players should always offer positive support for their teammates and opponents. Ridiculing or shouting at a player, particularly a young player, for making a mistake during competition is unacceptable. Positive support will offer encouragement and most likely spur players to better things on the field.
Violence or aggressive behaviour has no place in cricket. Players must not encourage or engage in any form of violence.
Players should respect their opponents, officials, and spectators. Without opponents, there would be no game. Spectators are there to enjoy the game as much as players. Light-hearted banter with an opposing spectator can add a further element of fun to a game. Conversely, nasty, or inappropriate behaviour or remarks will seriously detract from it.
Players should always obey the rules and accept decisions of officials. Encourage other players to do the same. Disputing decisions is not acceptable behaviour and is not in line with the club’s Spirit of Cricket document.
Players should demonstrate appropriate social behaviour by not using foul language or harassing players or officials. Anti-social behaviour such as foul or abusive language has no place in cricket.
Regardless of gender, ability, cultural background, religion, or other factors irrelevant to the game, all persons connected with cricket are entitled to equal treatment and respect. Do not use any remarks that could be construed as offensive or discriminatory.
Understand that when wearing our great colours (red and white) on game day or out in public you are a representation of the club and all its sponsors. Act in a way that is a positive reflection of both the club and sponsors.
Members are expected to treat all equipment and facilities with care and respect. Abuse, damage, or misuse of club equipment, facilities, or resources is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to intentional destruction, vandalism, or negligent handling of equipment. Members should use club equipment and facilities responsibly and follow any guidelines or instructions provided by the club. Any instances of abuse or damage to equipment or facilities should be reported to the appropriate club officials immediately. It is the responsibility of every member to contribute to the preservation and maintenance of the club’s resources for the benefit of all.
The Ballarat Fire Brigade CC is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and celebrating diversity. We value and respect individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, or religion. We believe that diversity enriches our club and creates a welcoming and supportive environment for all members. We strive to ensure equal opportunities for participation, involvement, and leadership within the club. Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion of any kind will not be tolerated. We encourage all members to embrace the principles of inclusion and diversity, treating each other with fairness, respect, and kindness.
Together, we can create a united and inclusive club where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute to our shared success.

The Ballarat Fire Brigade CC is dedicated to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all children involved in our activities. To ensure the well-being and protection of children always ensure that children with you at a cricket game are safe at all times, always keep a watchful eye on your children and do not allow them to wander around the ground unaccompanied. Do not leave your children with strangers or unauthorized individuals. If you witness any instance of a child being harassed, abused, or bullied, it is important to immediately report it to club officials or contact the appropriate authorities, such as the police. Do not take photographs or videos of children without the explicit permission of their parents or guardians. It is strictly prohibited to post any images or videos of children on social media platforms without the necessary consent from their parents or guardians.
By adhering to these child safety guidelines, we can create a secure and nurturing environment where children can enjoy their cricket experience without compromising their safety or privacy. The club is committed to taking appropriate action to address any concerns or incidents related to child safety.
Players who violate this code of conduct may be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the BFBCC Constitution and By-Laws.
